Infants are wired to attach to the caregiver for safety. But if the caregiver is dangerous (i.e. an attachment trauma), then a split in the personality occurs, resulting in a disorganised attachment style as well as other consequences that need to be addressed in therapy.
- To be knowledgeable about attachment and psychological development.
- To understand the role of attachment in present day problems, including complex and chronic trauma-related disturbances and dissociation.
- To be knowledgeable about treatment strategies for treating attachment difficulties including the utilisation of EMDR.
This training is geared towards the EMDR practitioner.
Non-EMDR trained mental health professionals, counsellors and social workers are welcomed; participants should preferably have psychology-relevant postgraduate qualifications and minimally two years of clinical work experience to get more out of this advanced training seminar.
